Membership at Temple Sinai is an experience of lasting friendships, stimulating learning, meaningful worship, and the peace that comes with finding a spiritual home. Perhaps you are new to the Houston area or wish to reconnect to your Jewish heritage. Maybe you want to educate your children, prepare for a life-cycle event or are simply looking for a Temple closer to home. No matter what your reason we encourage you to explore all that Temple Sinai has to offer.

“People often ask me what sets Temple Sinai apart – and my answer is always the same. It is the members that make Temple Sinai a special place.”

David Schwam
President Temple Sinai

Temple Sinai recently made the important decision to change its dues system and replace it with a new membership commitment process. We call it Gifts of the Heart. Instead of paying an assigned fixed dues amount, our members pledge the amount they are able to contribute that fits their family’s needs AND sustains the Temple community. Each year, the Temple calculates the average level of giving needed to support our programs and services based on our operating budget. Of course, we would like each family to pledge at this sustaining level. Those who cannot are encouraged to strive to come as close as their finances will allow. Likewise, those who are able are encouraged to give more. Gifts of the Heart pledges are strictly confidential. Submit the annual pledge form with an amount you are comfortable with, no questions asked.

Please note that the funds from our congregants’ pledges form the basis of our annual operating budget. However, other standard fees – Religious School tuition, Bar and Bat Mitzvah fees, and the Building Fund continue to remain separate obligations.

Experience Temple Sinai for yourself by attending one of our Shabbat services, attending one of our adult education programs, talking with Chava Gal-Or, our Director of Congregational Learning, or meeting with our Rabbi David Lipper. A schedule of services and programs is located on the main page of this site. For more information on becoming a member, please fill out the form below or call (281) 496-5950.
